DON'T PRESS IT
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
DON'T PRESS IT (“the game”) is a single-player game for Android. This policy explains what the game does with your data. The short version: it keeps your progress on your phone, it has no accounts and no analytics, it never shows an advertisement you did not ask for, and the only thing it sends on its own is a receipt for a purchase you chose to make.
Where this policy says version 1.0.7 and later, it describes something that version introduced. Versions up to and including 1.0.6 contain no advertising code at all.
What is stored on your device
Your progress, settings, collection, profile appearance, current deck and records are stored in the game's own save file on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling the game deletes them, and so does Settings → Privacy & local data → Erase all local data inside the game.
The game also keeps a small diagnostics log on your device: when sessions started and ended, which quests were completed, which cases were opened, how descents went, and whether a purchase succeeded. It holds no name, no account and no device identifier, it is capped so it cannot grow without limit, and it is not sent anywhere. The same erase control deletes it, and so does uninstalling.
The game also generates a random installation identifier the first time it needs one. It is sixteen random bytes — not derived from your device, your account or your advertising id — and it exists so that a purchase made from this installation can only be redeemed by this installation. It is lost when the save is deleted.
Advertising — version 1.0.7 and later
The game never shows an advertisement on its own. There are no banners, nothing plays between screens, and nothing interrupts you. The only advertisements in the game are short videos offered in exchange for something: doubling what you earned while away, finishing a study on the bench, opening a case in the recovery rack now, or a small number of Authority Tokens. Each one is a button you choose to press, and declining costs you nothing but the bonus.
Those videos are served by Google AdMob. To choose which video to show and to count that you watched it, AdMob reads your device's advertising ID — a resettable identifier Android provides for this purpose. That identifier goes to Google, not to us; we receive no data about you from it, only the statement that a video was watched. Nothing from your save, your progress or your purchases is sent with it.
You can reset or delete that identifier at any time, outside this game, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops advertisements being personalised; the reward videos still work.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
The first time the game is able to show an advertisement, it asks you, using Google's own consent form. Until you answer it, no advertisement is requested and none is offered. If you close the form without choosing, that counts as a no.
You can change that answer whenever you like: Settings → Privacy & local data → Ad privacy choices inside the game reopens the same form.
Declining does not take the reward videos away. It means they are chosen without using your data — the advertising ID is not used to personalise them. The only state in which no advertisement is requested at all is the one where you have not answered the form, because nothing may be asked for before you have.
How Google handles what it collects through AdMob is covered by the Google Privacy & Terms for partner sites and apps.
What is sent, and only when you buy something
Authority Token packs are sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment; the game never receives or sees your payment details, card number, name or billing address.
When a purchase completes, the game sends two things to our verification server:
- the purchase receipt Google Play issued for it, and
- a one-way hash of the random installation identifier described above.
The server asks Google Play whether that receipt is genuine, unused and paid for, and only then does the game grant the tokens. The receipt is stored so that the same purchase can never be paid out twice, and so that a receipt from one installation cannot be redeemed on another. Nothing else is sent: no name, no email, no account, no device identifier, no location, no usage data.
If you never buy anything and never watch a reward video, the game sends nothing at all.
Transport is HTTPS only. The server is operated by the developer of the game and the data is not sold, rented or shared with anyone; it is used for exactly one purpose, which is confirming that a purchase is real.
What the game does not do
- No advertisement you did not ask for: no banners, nothing between screens, nothing on opening the game. Up to and including version 1.0.6, no advertising code at all.
- No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking sent off the device by the game itself.
- No third-party crash reporting service.
- No account, no sign-in, no online profile. Online profiles (“Operator Register”) are switched off in this version; if they are ever enabled, joining will be optional and its own consent screen will list every field before anything is published.
- No access to your contacts, photos, files, messages, calendar, microphone, camera or location. The game declares internet access and network state, both for the purchase check described above; the Google Play billing permission, without which a purchase cannot be made at all; vibration; and, from version 1.0.7, the advertising ID permission that the Google Mobile Ads SDK requires. Nothing else.
Children
The game is not directed at children. It is rated for players aged 13 and over, it does not knowingly collect data from children, and it collects nothing that identifies anyone regardless of age. It is not declared as child-directed to Google Play or to AdMob, and it is not designed, written or illustrated for an audience under 13.
How long data is kept
Local data stays on your device until you delete it. Purchase records on the verification server are kept for as long as the purchase can be disputed, refunded or restored — Google's own record of the transaction is separate and governed by Google's policies.
Your choices
- Delete everything local: Settings → Privacy & local data → Erase all local data, or uninstall the game.
- Change your advertising consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): Settings → Privacy & local data → Ad privacy choices, inside the game.
- Reset or delete your advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. This is outside the game and applies to every app on the device.
- Delete a purchase record on the server: write to dontpressitgame@gmail.com. Deleting it means a purchase that has not yet been granted can no longer be restored.
- Ask what is held about an installation: write to the same address. Quote the date and product of the purchase; there is no account to look up.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play, under Google's refund policy.
Google Play
Purchases, payments and refunds are processed by Google, whose handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. This game is distributed through Google Play and is subject to Play's own policies.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts collecting anything it does not collect today, this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the date at the top will change.
